An international migrant is someone who lives in a country other than where they were born.

The number of migrants worldwide (244 million) is about the same as the entire population of Indonesia, the fourth most populous country in the world.


The number of international migrants is growing, a 41% increase since 2000. The migrant population comprises about 3% of the world population.
